Sally Joyce Goldenberg (née Cole) passed away peacefully in the early hours of May 3rd, 2025, just 2 months shy of her 97th birthday. She is survived by her three children: Bruce David (Laurie Rubin), Carey Adam (Susan Glick), and Amy Carol (Steven Elizer); she was the adored Gram of Cole, Ariel, Gabriel and Noa; and she was the cherished Aunt Sally to countless relatives.

Sally was preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Lillian Cole, and her dear sister, Lorayne (Marvin Schmitman).

Sally was born July 3rd, 1928, and grew up on the 5500 block of West VanBuren. After graduating from Austin High School, she attended the University of Wisconsin at Madison, and received a degree in Speech Therapy.

In May of 1951 she married Joseph Goldenberg; she raised her children in Glenview and Rogers Park, and continued to work for the Chicago Public Schools for 28 years. Sally’s love of the arts began early; she enjoyed piano concerts, symphonies, plays, and modern dance performances. She was a fabulous cook and baker and loved hosting large parties and barbecues. In addition to volunteering, she and Joe traveled extensively, visiting 6 continents together. She will be greatly missed.
