Funeral Service Information:

Stuart Allen Gosenpud of Skokie, age 79, passed away on February 4, 2026. Born and raised in Chicago, Stuart was the beloved brother of Dr. Jerrold (Dr. Joyce Turley) Gosenpud and the late Paul Gosenpud; cherished son of the late Roselyn (nee Smith) and Morris Gosenpud; and treasured nephew, cousin, and friend. Following his graduation from South Shore High School where he served as president of his class, Stuart earned his Bachelor of Arts in the Teaching of Social Studies from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. He was a devoted history teacher with the Chicago Public Schools, serving students at Englewood, Crane, and Mather High Schools. Stuart loved children, especially the youngest generation of his cousins, and was an afficionado of model trains and animated films. Walks in the forest preserve with loved ones always brought a twinkle to his blue eyes. He was a kind and gentle soul with a wacky sense of humor. In 1963, Allen Funt captured Stuart’s quirkiness in the classic “Nudist Meeting” episode of the original Candid Camera. Stuart spent much of the past year at Green Oaks Senior Living in Libertyville. The family is grateful for the exceptional care he received there.


Service and interment will be held on Monday, February 9 at 11:00 a.m., Westlawn Cemetery, 7801 W. Montrose Ave., Norridge, IL. Shiva will be held following the service from 2:00-8:00 p.m. Call Leslie Berman, (847) 207-3234, for information.
