Richard Scott Chusid, son of Sheldon and Cecile Chusid, a profoundly loved husband, father and grandfather, passed away after a long illness. All who knew Richard knew him to be a devout Jew, and a deeply principled, humble, gentle and intelligent soul. Richard attended Pioneer High School and earned a baccalaureate degree in Art History and an advanced degree in Library Science from the University of Michigan. A skilled machinist, Richard worked for 32 years at the General Motors Willow Run Plant. He loved movie trivia, jazz, fine art, and history – but mostly he worked tirelessly to provide a wonderful life to his family. Richard is survived by his devoted wife of nearly 50 years, Evelyn Jean Chusid, his children – Naomi, Edward and Sarah, and their spouses – Luis, Fred and Gabe, his grandchildren – Mollie, Max, Nerys and Ryan - and the Archduchess Louise the Dog. His family will honor Richard for the rest of our lives by endeavoring to live as he did – unassumingly, learnedly, morally, and guided by a deep compassion for others.
